The week in review

Went mall shopping and then to Yom Kippur services. I'm always amazed by the number of Jews in Austin. There were over a thousand people there, maybe close to two thousand, and this is only one of the two big temples in Austin. Quite impressive for a town where its common to see people with a fish decal on their cars and Christian bumper stickers. Sometimes, being Jewish, I feel very much in the minority around here, Especially with growing up in a mostly Jewish NJ suburb. It's nice to go to services and not feel so unique.
Monday
Fasting. Wasn't too hard a fast for Yom Kippur this year. I mean, there are days when I don't eat all day just because I forget to. So, not eating on purpose isn't too much of stretch. Services were nice. I'm glad that I have someone to go with. We broke the fast together, too. Went into work for a couple of hours, unfortunately. But I needed to check something into CVS and drop of an invoice.
Tuesday
Played softball with the IBM league. Since I'm very close to being a spouse of an IBMer, they let me play. It was a double header, and I'm out of shape, so it was a tough two games. I was quite tired afterwards, but I don't think that's a bad thing. The first game, I hit a dribbler to first base that I somehow managed to beat out. The first baseman fumbling it kind of helped. And I struck out the second time. The next game, I hit a great shot to near center field, and it dropped between the center fielder and the second baseman. Base hit and an RBI. Fielding wasn't so great. I was playing outfield. I lost one ball in the sun, and the other ball was too far away for me to even get my glove close to. I misjudged the distance, I guess. Those were the only two balls I had a chance of getting. Oh well. It's been awhile since I've been a ballplayer. And nobody expects me to be good. :)
Wednesday
Went into work for a few hours to finish things up. Picked up H. at the airport since J. had a meeting. See
hhd's journal for her view of events that night. I've got not much else to add, other than I looked for Kingdom Hearts, which is a PS2 game I want, and it was sold out/preorder only at the game store. Best Buy doesn't get it until Saturday. Oh well. It's only a game. I just want to get it so I can stop obsessing about getting it.
